Hoboken fire leaves 5 people displaced

  Karina Vigo, Eyewitness NewsHOBOKEN, NJ (WABC) -- Police are investigating the cause of a fire in Hoboken.

Police say the three-alarm fire started this morning in a building on 1st Street near Jackson Street.

Five residents of the building were safely evacuated and taken to Iglesia Pentecostal Latino Americano where they are receiving assistance.

Officials say the building is an older wooden structure and the fire generated significant smoke.

Residents of the surrounding buildings were urged to keep their windows closed as a precaution.

No injuries have been reported at this time.
