Eyewitness NewsTRENTON (WABC) -- New Jersey lawmakers plan to hold more hearings this week on Gov. Chris Christie's proposed budget. The Assembly's Budget Committee has hearings scheduled Monday to hear spending plans for the Departments of Environmental Protection, Military and Veteran Affairs, Agriculture and Treasury.
The state Senate plans to hear from both the Treasury and Health and Senior Services departments on Thursday.
The next budget takes effect July 1. And under state law, the Legislature - where Democrats control both chambers - must give its approval to the spending plan by then.However, political leaders are currently tussling over income tax reduction plans.
