Independence Airship Invitational blimp race

  Jason Holder, Eyewitness NewsNEW YORK (WABC) -- The first Independence Airship Invitational in 25 years was held Monday night in the skies in between New York and New Jersey.

Three blimps raced from the Statue of Liberty to Midtown and blistering speeds of 25-miles an hour.

The Horizon Blue Cross-Blue Shield of New Jersey blimp took an early lead and never looked back, easily beating its two competitors.
