Eyewitness NewsIRVINGTON (WABC) -- A woman who used to do chores for an elderly woman in New Jersey is now under arrest and charged with her murder. Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray announced Friday that 45-year-old Yvonne Walker has been arrested in the fatal stabbing of 88-year-old Casetta Blunt, who stabbed multiples times in her home on Campfield Street in Irvington.
"The brutal and senseless death of an 88-year-old woman who was best known in the community for tending her garden and being kind to people is an unspeakable tragedy," Murray said. "We are pleased we were able to apprehend the suspect quickly."
At approximately 12:25 a.m. Thursday, Irvington police responded to the home after receiving a report of an elderly woman found unconscious. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The autopsy completed Thursday indicated she died from multiple stab wounds.Walker is charged with murder, felony murder, robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of+ a weapon for a lawful purpose. Bail was set at $1 million.
