Eyewitness NewsNEWARK, N.J. -- A new superintendent for the Newark school system has been formally appointed.
New Jersey's state Board of Education voted unanimously Wednesday to approve Cami Anderson to run the state-operated Newark Public Schools.
The 39-year-old Anderson was the former head of programming for the New York City-based New Leaders for New Schools.
She will succeed Clifford Janey as superintendent of the 40,000-student district.Janey resigned in January, four months after Gov. Chris Christie decided not to renew his $280,000-a-year contract.
Details of Anderson's salary and benefits are still being worked out. She's scheduled to start in two weeks.
Her selection was first announced in May.
