2 seriously hurt in 5-car crash in East Brunswick

  Eyewitness NewsEAST BRUNSWICK (WABC) -- Police continue to investigate a five-car accident that left two people seriously hurt in New Jersey Monday.

The drivers collided at the intersection of Ryders Land and Winton Road in East Brunswick.

Two of the victims were rushed to the hospital.

It is still not clear what caused the crash to happen, but traffic was backed up for hours.

2 workers burned, 1 seriously, in Union gas explosion

  Eyewitness NewsUNION (WABC) -- Two workers were burned, one seriously, in a flash gas explosion in New Jersey Monday morning.

The workers were installing new residential gas main at Union County Parkway and Azalea Road in Union at around 8:30 a.m.

They were connecting an existing main to a new one when there was a flash explosion.

One worker was burned seriously to the arms, chest and face area. That worker was rushed to the burn unit at St. Barnabas Medical Center

The other worker sustained less serious injuries. He was treated at the scene and refused to go to the hospital.

A small ensuing gas leak was capped by Elizabethtown Gas workers.

The injured workers were employed by Henkels & McCoy, a private contractor.

Man seriously injured in NJ Turnpike crash

  Eyewitness NewsEAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. (WABC) -- Traffic on the New Jersey Turnpike is back to normal after an accident backed things up for miles.

It happened at the peak of rush hour, in East Brunswick.

Police say a van flipped in the northbound lane.

Traffic was backed up for miles and the outer lanes of the turnpike had to be shut down as rescue workers worked to free the driver.

He is in serious condition.

Plane crashes in NJ; 1 seriously hurt

See it on TV? Check here.   Eyewitness NewsWEST MILFORD, N.J. (WABC) -- Federal aviation officials say one person was seriously injured when a small plane crashed Saturday afternoon at a northern New Jersey airport.

It wasn't immediately clear what caused the crash, which occurred around 12:40 p.m. at Greenwood Lake Airport in West Milford.

The pilot sustained serious injuries and there is substantial damage to the aircraft.

Investigators say the pilot was the only person in the plane.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Holly Baker says police have responded to the scene in Passaic County.

The airplane is an Aero Vodochody L39C.

The plane is registered to Air Vatche Inc. from Wilmington, Delaware.
