T-Mobile store allegedly robbed in Linden, New Jersey

Eyewitness NewsLINDEN, New Jersey (WABC) -- Linden police are investigating an armed robbery of a T-Mobile store on West Edgar Road.

Police say two men, described as being younger, barged into the store at around 4pm.

They were both allegedly wearing hooded sweatshirts pulled tightly around their faces, sunglasses and gloves.

One was armed with a gun.

Police say they tied up three employees and stole an undetermined amount of merchandise and cash.

The suspects fled in a white SUV, possibly a Range Rover, possibly with NY plates.

The employees were not injured.

Teens allegedly break-in to Teeterboro and steal ATV

NEW JERSEY (WABC) -- A big security scare at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey after three teens stole an ATV with a flatbed and took off on it.

It might not be the size of Newark Liberty or JFK, but Teterboro is an airport secured by Port Authority.

A security breach there is no different than at a bigger airport.

Sometime Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, the perimeter was breached by three teens in what seems to be a prank, but no one is laughing.

Unfortunately it was too easy for the three teens. The fence has some barbed wire, But they used bolt cutters to cut through this section of fence, allegedly stole a John Deere Gator.

They drove it through the opening in the fence and then through the woods.

The area has no security cameras and just a common padlock on the gate.

Surrounded by trees, it's secluded so no one could see the teens as they broke in.

But it wasn't hard to find them after. The gator left tracks, and Port Authority police followed them right to the home where one of the teens lives.

Someone was home, but wouldn't come to the door.

A Port Authority spokesperson said over the phone, "We take this very seriously. We want to see them prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law".

Officers charged for allegedly ignoring deadly crash

Eyewitness NewsPATERSON -- Prosecutors have charged two members of Paterson's Office of Emergency Management with official misconduct in connection with their response to a fatal motorcycle accident.

The Passaic County Prosecutor Office said Thursday that Juan Martinez, 30, of Paterson, and Jonathan Lopez, 29, of Hackensack, have been arrested on several charges.

Prosecutors say the two men, both auxiliary police officers, were driving an OEM vehicle in Paterson on April 17 and following behind a motorcycle at a distance of 100 feet or less while improperly activating the siren.

Prosecutors allege that Martinez and Lopez then witnessed the motorcycle crash and did not stop to render aid or contact police or their superiors.

The driver of the motorcycle, 31-year-old Randolph Waddy of Paterson, died from his injuries.

Waddy's family has hired a lawyer and is considering a lawsuit.

They believe the officers struck Waddy, though prosecutors say they have no evidence of that.

Vice principal, vol. allegedly put camera in showers

Web produced by Jennifer Matarese, Eyewitness NewsSOMERVILLE, N.J. (WABC) -- 54-year-old Patrick Lott, Vice Principal of Bernardsville Middle School, was also a volunteer coach at Immaculata High School.

Wednesday night, he is in jail on half a million dollars bail.

The Somerset County Prosecutor's office says two weeks ago, investigators seized computer files from Lott's Eastern Avenue home, and found images of male students at Immaculata as they bathed in a communal shower.

At least nine of the teens are under the age of 16.

No one answered the door at Lott's home.

Many neighbors declined to speak, except one, who says he's known Lott for decades.

"I don't believe it. (You know him?) Yes, I don't believe it. (Why?) He's a nice guy," said Harry Potts, a Somerville resident.

Police won't say what tipped them off, but after seeing the images, they were able to locate the hidden camera.

Lott is charged with 22-counts of invasion of privacy and 27 counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Eyewitness News spoke to parents arriving for a basketball game.

"I think it's awful, you think your kids are safe at school and their sports programs," said Renee Nicholson, a Staten Island resident.

The school sent a letter to parents, saying in part: "Our school has worked with detectives from the very beginning to provide information and access, and, we do everything in our power to provide a safe environment for our students."

Visiting basketball players spoke to Eyewitness News as they were headed to the gym.

"When you go into a locker room, it just feels weird and awkward like," said Stephen Steyer, a Staten Island resident.

Lott has played a prominent role in education in Somerset County.

The prosecutor's office says its investigation into his alleged activities is far from over.
