Gas prices jump 6 cents on New Jersey toll roads

  Eyewitness NewsTRENTON, N.J. (WABC) -- After several months of gas prices going up, we're seeing an unsettled trend in New Jersey.

One week after gas prices dropped six cents from $3.82 to $3.76 along the New Tersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway, they jumped back up six cents Friday morning.

Analysts expected lower prices at the pump, mostly due to falling crude oil prices and stations switching over to less expensive winter blends.

The price of regular unleaded gasoline went up after two week of decline. That followed 10 straight week of price hikes after10 weeks of decline leading up to summer.

The highways offer some of the cheaper gas in the area, and motorists are taking note.

"I live on Staten Island, but I try to fill up in Jersey every chance I get," driver Tony Ablavskiy said.

Gas prices only increase once a week on the two highways, maintained by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. The Authority surveys 100 gas stations, located off the highway, every Wednesday and Thursday to determine an average statewide price, and implements the increases Friday morning. The service area per-gallon cost cannot be more than 3 cents above that average price.

Gas prices on New Jersey toll roads up again

  Eyewitness NewsNEW JERSEY (WABC) -- The price of regular unleaded gasoline along New Jersey toll roads went up Friday morning for the 10th straight week after 10 weeks of decline.

The price of regular unleaded along the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway increased a whopping 11 cents.

Now, instead of $3.70 a gallon, drivers will have to pay $3.81.

The average price had been steadily declining for 10 weeks, dropping 42 cents before the trend reversed itself. The prices have jumped 55 cents in the past 10 weeks.

The highways still offer some of the cheaper gas in the area, and motorists are taking note.

"I live on Staten Island, but I try to fill up in Jersey every chance I get," driver Tony Ablavskiy said.

The price of regular unleaded along the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway increased 1 cent.

Now, instead of $3.69 a gallon, drivers will have to pay $3.70.

The average price had been steadily declining for 10 weeks, dropping 42 cents before the trend reversed itself. The prices have regained 44 cents in the past eight weeks.

The highways still offer some of the cheaper gas in the area, and motorists are taking note.

The price of regular unleaded along the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway dropped six cents Friday morning.

Now, instead of $3.40 a gallon, drivers will only have to pay $3.34.

Typically, the price of gas goes up as summer approaches, but not this year.

The average price has been steadily declining for the past eight weeks, dropping 34 cents.

Motorists are taking note.

"I live on Staten Island, but I try to fill up in Jersey every chance I get," driver Tony Ablavskiy said.

The price of regular unleaded along the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway dropped four cents Friday morning.

Now, instead of $3.63 a gallon, drivers will only have to pay $3.59.

Typically, the price of gas goes up as summer approaches, but not this year.

The average price has been steadily declining for more than a month, dropping 24 cents.

Motorists are taking note.

"I live on Staten Island, but I try to fill up in Jersey every chance I get," driver Tony Ablavskiy said.
